This set of photos were taken at Big Sky, Montana on the ski slopes. The first image was from when I was on the ski lift and the second was taken moments before I went down the slope. Regarding the composition of the first photo, I was aiming to take a clear photo of the large mountain in the back, but in many of the shots there were trees getting in the way of it. I decided that the look with the trees in it makes the scenery look more natural and adds more value as a focal point. As for the other photo, I wanted to show the reach of the sky and the value of the other mountains in comparison to each other. These photos are significant to me because of the beauty they reflect. These were taken on my family vacation to Montana.
These photos were taken at the site of the 'Night of Terror' in Montana, where 28 campers were buried alive from an earthquake. The first picture is of the lake there with some dead trees sticking out of the water with snow at their base. I really wanted to capture the depth of the water in this picture and thought I did so. I think the contrast of the green trees to the white snow to the lake makes the colors pop. As for the second photo, I wanted to create a spooky aura based on the story behind the location. The deep blues in the background deepen the photo and the orange makes the foreground of the photo pop. These photos intrigue me because the story they reflect.
This set of photos were taken in Yellowstone National Park, Montana. My family and I had stopped off the side of the road to take these photos after driving for a long time. In the first photo, I really wanted to highlight the roughness of the waves and the comparison of the river to the smooth sky. There are a lot of different colors in the photo and you can really see the sun almost popping out of the clouds. In the second photo, I wanted to highlight these colors and to contrast them to the mountains. The grass on the side of the road is bright orange and the mountains are a darker brown. The river remains blue, but you cant see a lot of he roughness I was trying to capture.
These photos were taken outside of my house in my front yard. The first photo is a close up shot of my trees, with the road in the background covered in snow. I wanted to show the cool colors on the tree and the patterns of the sap. I like how the green from the trees is highlighted in the picture as well. The second picture is out firepit in the yard that is covered in snow. I wanted to show the significance of the spot where my family always spends time together in the summer by making the filter look almost vintage. The green from the tops of the trees contrasted to the white snow creates a visually pleasing factor.
These photos were taken just outside my house, on the side near the trail to the park. In the first photo, I wanted to make the large tree the focal point of the picture. In doing so, there are also a lot of other trees that distract the larger one. I still feel like my eyes are attracted to the larger tree. The colors in this picture are all dull and masked by the snow, so i had edited the saturation of the photos too to try to make them pop more. As for the second photo, I wanted to get a side picture of the yard. I made the bush be up close to the camera, but there are also two trees that are highlighted based on their position. I wanted to represent my yard in different ways by highlighting the pieces of nature in my yard.
