Road to Somewhere
This photo was taken along the road in Yellowstone National Park. I really find it interesting how the road looks intersects with itself and how the trees are reflected across the road, like an endless loop.
Lines of the Home
I find it really interesting how there is a bright red patch of bricks in the center of the photograph and how it is surrounded by the darkness of the trees and the forest, almost reflecting materialism versus nature. I took this picture at the corner of my house on the porch right next to a really large tree.
Follow the Path
I am intrigued by the formation of the trees and the shape that they created and the illusion of light glowing outward. The loop of bushes it creates is also drawing attention forward. I took this photograph outside in the yard adjacent to my house.
Tangled
This photo was taken and transformed originally of a bush in the yard. Transforming the bush created a figure of a crazy knot of nature. Interestingly enough, there is a square like figure inside the bush that was created. It almost reminds me of Rapunzel's hair.
X Marks the Spot
The 'X' like shape that was created by this transformation increases the captivity of the of the viewers attention. I enjoy the bark contrasted next to the green leaves as well. This was taken in my yard of a tree and its leaves.
Entry to Love
This image was taken on the front walkway at my mother's house. I initially saw the pale snow and the brown bricks as something that would be boring to capture. However, the red on the door being highlighted is popping from the desaturated background. I find it interesting how the opening to my home is highlighted, alluding to the openness of my house. The red is representative of love and affection, showing that held in my family.
Family Customs
This sign is very important to my family. My mom and stepdad had gotten married and y mom changed her last name to Waterhouse, and my family had gotten this crest. The green of the crest against the grey concrete is subtle but interesting. As well as the gold, which you can barely see, but it can represent fortune and success as a family as a whole. The word "failte" means welcome in Irish, which shows the openness of my family as well.
Keep Warm
After sledding with my siblings, I was walking inside when I took this image. There were plenty of colors in the background, with the doormat, the bricks, my clothing and boots, and the snow. However, I wanted to highlight all of the colors in my scarf. My family has a lot of different colorful fabrics in the house because my mom is very interested in crafting and sewing. I like how the colors of the scarf blur together and there aren't any fine lines in it.
Waving Flag
My family is very into the Cubs, specifically my step dad. He had grown up being a big fan of baseball and his father used to play with him. We have this flag hanging year round, even if it is raining or snowing. I thought that highlighting the blue and red colors on the snowy background would draw the viewer in.The background is also very cool because it is snowing and there are flurries all around the subject matter.
Midnight Snack
This photo was taken after I had track practice. I like how the bright colors of the orange are highlighted, and the blue on the granola bar is also popping. I named this piece Midnight Snack because of the darkness in the background alluding to nighttime. I find eating healthy very important to success as an athlete and I always want to promote healthy eating. My family also likes to eat healthy and get rid of a lot of negative things that effect your body, and I wanted to highlight the positive things that I am eating in the picture by making them pop in color.
