The photos above are of an old copy of one of my favorite books, the Great Gatsby. This is an older copy of the book, so there is a corner of the cover page that is torn. This is not the original cover of the book, but a more bleak version of the book. Even though the outer of the book may appear boring, the inside is filled with this fantastic and beautifully articulated book. I put the crystallizing filter on the image of the book to allude to the blur enhancing the phrase 'don't judge a book by it's cover'. I took these photos on a ledge in the afternoon after I was reading the book. It was challenging dealing with the glare from lamnate book cover, but I was able to edit much of it out of the picture.
The images of the mittens above hold value in my life because my cousin had given them to me at a young age. They still fit and I am still able to wear them and they stand as a reminder of my childhood and my connection to my family. By taking the pictures in daylight, the tips of color on the fur are highlighted and it looks as it is glowing. These gloves show a playful side, but also a loving one too. This image was hard to capture because the end of the glove made the picture look awkward.
Although typically water bottles don't hold a lot of meaning to people, this one is important to me. Over the summer, I was in North Carolina for New Balance Nationals, one of the largest track meets in America. I was anxious and excited to run, and I always had this water bottle with me. I also have a sticker that says "Breakout" on the side, which helps to remind me to break out of my comfort zone whenever I can. The water bottle is a bright blue with a pin lid on it. I had taken this picture in the daylight on a ledge in my house. I feel that this picture is highlighted and is popping because of the way that the light enters the water bottle. The filter that I used was the color halftone to create a cool effect on the glow of the bottle.
The images above are of a peace sign necklace that my mom gave me when I was younger. I tend to wear this necklace almost everyday, and the metal on the charm is starting to wear off and change color. In the edited image, I added the pointillism filter to almost show how it is fading and changing color. I took this picture on a white surface with light to highlight the colors of the metals and to show the use that the necklace has got. This image was harder to capture because of how small the charm is.
The images above are of my wallet and drivers licsence with my keys on it. To me, this symbolizes my growth and maturing. I got this wallet for my 16th birthday back in June and have used it since I got it. The lighting in the image helps to make the wallet glow and shine. Also, by including a white background, the colors of the wallet and the keys are highlighted and contrasted to the bright background. Positioning the object in this image was hard because of the clunkiness of the wallet.
